Leviticus 12, 13, and 14:

Last episode, we dove into ritual purity laws regarding animals. Leviticus 12-14 gets into the ritual purity laws for the people. It covers childbirth, skin diseases, boils, burns, rashes, sores, and even mold. God was thorough. It might seem overwhelming, but it provided a way for the Israelites to have a relationship with God before Jesus made his sacrifice.

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

My takeaway from this episode came in a pointed question from Susan to listeners. When discussing the metaphor leprosy had in comparison to sin, she asked, “What impurity is growing under your skin? What threatens to corrupt your body, mind, or spirit?” She goes on to list possible answers–laziness, greed, discontent, selfishness, hatred, pride. As Susan noted, all of these examples can take root in our heart. Sin permeates to the heart. It is a question I am going to ponder going forward into this week. What impurity is hindering my holiness this week? What root do I need to cut?

What was your Bible bender from Leviticus 12, 13, or 14? Did you learn anything new?
