Genesis 50 is the last chapter of the beginning. It starts with Jacob just passing away in Chapter 49 and Joseph taking charge of his beloved father’s burial. The mourning lasted 70 days and is the grandest burial in the entire Bible. Joseph took honoring his father seriously.

HAYLEY’S BIBLE BENDER:

My Bible bender of this last chapter is a simple statement that had a large impact. Susan mentions that relationships are the hallmark of our faith. Joseph approached his relationships with transparency and trust. Jacob approached his relationships with manipulation and control. Jacob wrestled with his relationships and learned to love well in the end. The aha moment for me came when using the examples of Jacob and Joseph. Susan said, “Because no matter what our weaknesses or strengths, our struggles or suffering…what the enemy intends for harm, God can use for good to accomplish the saving of many lives.” What a wonderful thought to hold onto.

What was your Bible bender for this episode? What was your Bible bender for the whole book of Genesis?
