Bible Covenants 101 Relationship Review:
- The Noahic Covenant: After the flood, God promised Noah and his descendants that He would never again destroy the earth by flood.
- God made a commitment to a relationship with humanity.
- The Abrahamic Covenant: God promised Abraham that he would become the father of a nation that would inherit land and bless all of humanity.
- God made a commitment to a relationship with this one family.
- This family will play the leading role in God’s redemption plan to restore the world to the relationship that was lost in the Fall.
- The Mosaic Covenant: God, through Moses, promised to make Israel a kingdom of priests that will convey his blessing and glory to the nations.
- God made a commitment to a holy relationship with this one family that had become a nation.
- The commitment was conditional God would bless them in return for their faithful obedience.
- And He provided the commandments and ritual rules for the holy relationship.
- The Davidic Covenant: God promised David that his descendants would rule forever.
- God made a commitment to a relationship with the king of the holy nation, of the one family, David, and his descendent sons.
- David would have an eternal dynasty.
- He and one son of every generation would be king until the promised king, a son of David, and of God, would reign forever.
- The New Covenant: God delivers his promise – the king, from the line of David, from the one family that had become a nation…who was holy to redeem and bless the world.
- God made a commitment to a relationship of eternal life with all humanity.
- The commitment was conditional people had to have a relationship with his son, Jesus.
- With this final covenant, God’s plan of redemption was complete.
- God has opened the door for all to have an eternal relationship with him through Christ.
- God has a plan to redeem the world, in his second coming when we will live eternally in the “new heaven and new earth”
